Nicolò Bulega arrived at Estoril with the 2026 title already secured. He left the Portuguese circuit having rewritten the Superbike record books twice over, taking his win tally to 29 and his points total to 664 — both new single-season benchmarks.

Two records, one decisive move

Lecuona later admitted he nearly lost the front after nine or ten laps, rolled off and settled for second, saying Bulega “was faster than me all weekend.”

A treble assembled in three distinct acts

The ninth treble of the season — already a record — was built race by race. Alberto Surra moved past Miguel Oliveira late in the contest, denying the home hero a podium in front of the Estoril crowd.

Race 2 offered the cleanest statement. Behind him, Álvaro Bautista lost the front at Turn 1 with five laps remaining while chasing his first podium since Australia. Surra collected third once more, completing his strongest WorldSBK weekend so far.

Estoril confirms a season without equal

Surpassing Bautista’s 27 wins from 2023 and Jonathan Rea’s 663 points from 2019 placed Bulega’s campaign on a new plane. He had clinched his maiden WorldSBK crown at Cremona weeks earlier, on home soil. Ducati remained unbeaten through the penultimate round, chasing its first perfect season since 2003.
