Gabriel Bonfim needed twenty-five minutes and gave away none of them. In the main event at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas on 6 June 2026, the Brazilian took every round from Belal Muhammad, a former welterweight champion, and left with three identical scorecards. 50-45, 50-45, 50-45. He out-struck the ex-titleholder 120 to 91. A fight billed as a test became a statement.
How it was decided
The decisive work began early. Bonfim was the more effective of the two in the opening rounds, landing the better shots throughout and doing well to deny Muhammad's attempts to wrestle. That refusal set the terms. Muhammad has built a career on grappling and pressure, on dragging opponents into deep water. Bonfim kept the fight standing and made the standing exchanges his own.
From there the margin only widened. As the fight progressed, Bonfim continued to have more consistent success, busting up the former titleholder with his precision striking and pushing back immediately whenever Muhammad began to have any positive moments of his own. Every small opening the veteran found was answered before it could grow. They went the distance, but the outcome was never in question, and Bonfim earned a clean sweep of the scorecards.
