Linda Kaparkalēja won the 200m skate sprint world title at the 2026 FIS Roller Ski World Championships in Madona, Latvia. Racing on home soil, she beat Norway’s Ragnhild Aarekol for gold, while Croatia’s Tena Hadzic took bronze. Italy’s Alba Mortagna finished fourth in a final built from the four fastest qualifying times.
The race ran in Madona town centre on Saturday, September 5. The short 200‑metre course left no room for a slow start, and Kaparkalēja moved clear early to decide the contest. Aarekol and Hadzic chased hard but could not close the gap on the straight through the host city.
A title built across two summers
One year earlier, on the same Madona course, Kaparkalēja stood second in the junior sprint behind Norway’s Emilie Ruud Lia. That 2025 junior silver now reads like a dress rehearsal. In 2026 she returned as a senior and took the gold that had been one step away.
