Alice Lemoigne won the women's gold at the 2026 Surf City El Salvador ISA World Longboard Championship at El Sunzal on 22 October. It was her third world title, a record in the women's division. She also carried France to a record fifth team world title.
A 14.73 final, decided in the closing minutes
The Grand Final ran in prime conditions on El Sunzal's right point break, a 30-minute heat on the Pacific. Lemoigne opened with a 6.00 that did not count toward her best two. For a long stretch her three rivals had no scores, waiting to lock in their first rides.
Her decisive waves came late, scored 7.33 and 7.40 for a total of 14.73. Avalon Gall of the United States took silver on 13.00, after opening with a 7.17. Lia Díaz of Costa Rica claimed bronze with 10.00 for Costa Rica's first WLC medal, and 14-year-old Estorya Martínez of Puerto Rico won copper on her debut, also her country's first.
Earlier in the event Lemoigne had posted 16.50 in the Main Round Final, the highest women's heat score of the week. In her semifinal she left the water with two minutes still on the clock. Her closest rival, Gall, leads the WSL Longboard Tour and was runner-up in the 2025 World Longboard Title race.
Third gold matches the all-time record
Lemoigne was already the only woman with two WLC golds, won in 2019 at Biarritz and in 2023 at Surf City El Salvador. She took silver in 2025. This third title equals the all-time WLC record shared by Antoine Delpero and Marcelo Freitas.
France's team gold was its fifth, a figure the ISA calls unprecedented, following wins in 2013, 2019, 2023 and 2025. The 2026 event drew 126 athletes from 37 nations. The United States took team silver, the Philippines bronze and Brazil copper.
"I dreamed about this and I've worked for it for so many years, so it means so much to me," Lemoigne said. The surfer from Réunion, now 30, recalled telling her mother after her 2019 gold that she wanted more. Seven years on, she holds the women's record alone.
