Gareth Potts retained the WPA Heyball World Championship in Pune, India, defeating compatriot Jordan Shepherd in the final. The Briton claimed back-to-back world titles with a steady performance at the Rajan Khinvasara Billiards and Snooker Academy.
A path through the losers' bracket
Potts arrived at the final after a difficult route through the tournament. A second-round loss to Germany's Tobias Bongers by 6–5 sent him into the losers' side of the draw. He fought back through several matches to earn his place at the final table.
Shepherd stopped early
Jordan Shepherd entered the contest unbeaten and fresh off an International Heyball Open win. He reached the world final with a commanding 7–2 semi-final victory over Jack Whelan. But after an early tie, the defending champion shifted tempo and pulled clear to leave his opponent without a reply.
