Anna Leigh Waters arrived in Northbrook carrying 199 career PPA titles after leaving Las Vegas empty-handed. By Sunday evening at the Veolia Chicago Cup she had not only claimed her 200th but added a 45th career Triple Crown, sweeping all three Championship Sunday finals at the tour’s first-ever Chicago-area stop.

A rematch settled in straight games

The milestone came in the mixed doubles final alongside Ben Johns. They faced No. 3 seeds JW and Jorja Johnson, the siblings who had beaten them in the Cary semifinals a month earlier. Waters and Johns made it a one-sided rematch, winning 11-4, 11-4. They committed just one serve-return-and-third-shot error to the Johnsons’ five, kept every volley out of the net, and stretched the longest rally to 45 shots. The Johnson siblings had reached the final by beating No. 2 seeds Anna Bright and Hayden Patriquin, but Waters and Johns gave them no opening.

A comeback and a closing statement

The women’s doubles final tested Waters immediately. She and Anna Bright, the top seeds, dropped the opener 2-11 to Catherine Parenteau and Hurricane Tyra Black. They flipped the match with 11-3 and 11-4 games, firing 15 clean winners to six and winning their second straight final over the same pair. Parenteau later posted that the crowd’s energy was “unreal.”

The singles final was a familiar story. Waters beat Kate Fahey 11-1, 11-7, recording her 14th win in 14 finals meetings with Fahey, with 14 clean winners and no serve-and-return errors. The victory continued a streak that stretches back more than four years.

Records that keep expanding

Waters has now won 55 consecutive singles finals since June 2022 and holds a 66-3 career record in singles finals. The mixed doubles gold was her 66th title with Johns—against career doubles totals of 68 for Waters and 81 for Johns. The women’s doubles win with Bright was their 26th as a pair, and third of the 2026 season. The 45th career Triple Crown extends a record that grows with nearly every tournament Waters enters.

Forbes called her “the sport’s greatest player” after the 200th title. At 19, she seemingly has years to add to her accomplishments.
