Jaymio Brink has won the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Cup Men Elite overall title. The Dutch rider was confirmed champion in Sarasota without lining up in the season's final race.

Decided by a rival's missed start in the rain

Brink came to the Sarasota BMX Track with a comfortable lead in the overall standings. The title turned on Saturday's quarter-finals in Round 9, when he crashed and the fall ended his Round 9 campaign. From there, only Arthur Pilard could still overhaul him on Sunday.

Pilard finished sixth in Saturday's dry final. Sunday brought showers, and the decisive heat came in a rain-hit semi-final. He made a difficult start and failed to take one of the four places in the final.

With neither of the top two reaching the final, Brink's lead held and the title was settled. Leo Garoyan won Saturday's round, his first Men Elite World Cup event, ahead of Juan Esteban Naranjo Murillo and Carlos Ramírez. On Sunday Jérémy Rencurel won, back on a Men Elite podium for the first time in four years, a result that lifted him to third overall on 1,873 points.

A first crown for the season's steadiest rider

Brink ended the season on 2,150 points, 110 clear of Pilard on 2,040. Before Sarasota, the UCI had named him the most consistent rider of the campaign, with 500 points on offer for an Elite win.

It is a first overall World Cup title for the rider from Arnhem, born in 2004. He and Laura Smulders, the Women Elite winner, gave the Netherlands two of the four overall crowns. The titles were shared between four riders from three nations.

The FATBMX report noted the title arrived in a way Brink would not have wanted, though "a championship is a championship."
