Valentina Höll secured her fifth UCI Downhill World Cup overall title in 2026, clinching the crown with two rounds to spare after a season that had turned the women’s elite circuit into a solo exhibition. The 24-year-old Austrian arrived at the Lake Placid final already crowned, her dominance having settled the destination of the trophy weeks earlier.
Six wins seal it early
Höll won five of the first six rounds, taking victories at Mona YongPyong, Loudenvielle, Leogang, La Thuile and Pal Arinsal. A sixth win at Whistler later in the summer made the mathematics inevitable, and the overall title was confirmed two rounds before the New York finale. By the time the field assembled at Lake Placid, only the final podium order remained open.
Bouladou denies the record
France’s Lisa Bouladou claimed her maiden World Cup victory in 3:36.037, beating Höll by just 0.463 seconds. Tahnee Seagrave of Great Britain finished third in 3:36.658, a further 0.158 seconds back. In qualifying, Bouladou and Höll had been separated by only 0.034 seconds — a preview of the razor-thin margins that would decide the run.
