The downhill skateboarding world title is back in Dutch hands. Lisa Peters of the Netherlands won the women’s race at the 2026 World Skate Games in Asunción, Paraguay, on 5 October, reclaiming the crown she first held in 2023.

Rain, speed and a Swiss duel

The final day on Cerro Lambaré opened with steady rain that soaked the morning warm‑up runs and the early racing rounds. Peters held her nerve best when it mattered, beating Switzerland’s Selina Theiler and Livia Waldburger to the line.

The two Swiss women had set the pace in the time trials—reigning champion Theiler posted a 1:09.854, with Waldburger second.

Two titles, one hard return

The victory completes a careful return.

The Asunción edition gathered more than 8,000 athletes from over 90 countries across 40 disciplines. Inside that vast festival of skate sports, Peters’s race was a small, fierce thing: a closed road, gravity, and three other riders pushing for every metre.

Speaking after her 2023 title, Peters told a reporter, “Normal people would think we have gone completely crazy, but we are always in control.” She has now held the downhill skateboarding world title twice—and the second time came the hard way.
