Alef Torres reclaimed the women's inline downhill time-trial world title at the 5th World Skate Games in Asunción on 3 October 2026.
Down Cerro Lambaré
The race unfolded on the slopes of Cerro Lambaré, the lookout hill that rises near the Paraguayan capital.
Mexico's Esmeralda Flores took silver and Chile's Danae Gómez claimed bronze. The podium repeated a rivalry Torres has been writing for years: Flores had finished behind her in the mass race at the 2022 World Skate Games in San Juan, where Torres won silver.
Two medals, one missing crown
At the 2024 World Skate Games in Tortoreto, Italy, Torres had been Colombia's standout. She won gold in the team race, leading a 1,000-metre downhill from start to finish, and added bronze in the individual time trial.
The time-trial gold was the one that had slipped past her. Asunción gave it back. In three editions of the World Skate Games, Torres has now stood on the podium at every one: silver in 2022, two medals in 2024, and the solo world title in 2026.
A Games on the rise
The Asunción event, branded ASU26, gathered more than 8,000 athletes from 91 countries across 11 skating modalities and 40 roller-sport disciplines.
The road down Cerro Lambaré led her back to the summit of her sport.
