Amelia Dunaway has won the women's Wingsuit Performance Flying title at the 6th FAI World Wingsuit Flying Championships in California. She finished first of eight pilots with a total of 298.8 points, built from a perfect 100.0% for distance, 100.0% for speed and 98.8% for time.
Perfect in distance and speed, first in the field
The scoring split into three tasks: distance, speed and time. Dunaway reached the ceiling in two of them, dropping only 1.2 points across her time runs. Her own third-round time score was a full 100.0%, so the small shortfall came from earlier runs.
Her distance flights measured 3874 m, 4010 m and a best of 4151 m, each scored at the maximum. Her speed runs reached 251.6 km/h, 238.7 km/h and a peak of 269.4 km/h, also scored full marks. Both of her best flights came on the third run.
She led the field on every distance run. Her three marks beat Marie Clark's 3700 m, 3490 m and 3206 m in turn, leaving Clark on an 86.6% distance total. Clark took silver with 276.5 points, 22.3 behind, and Tatjana Maksudov finished third on 262.4.
A title to match a rising record
The championships ran from October 8 to 14 at Skydive Elsinore in Lake Elsinore, California, held alongside the 22nd FAI World Canopy Formation Championships. The signed results were published on 15 October.
The win adds to a strong run for the American. In 2025 she took gold in the women's category at the FAI World Cup of Wingsuit Flying in the Czech Republic. In 2024 she set a Guinness mark for the longest time of fall in an FAI-approved wingsuit by a woman, at 128.1 seconds, flown at that year's World Championships in North Carolina.
Dunaway, an attorney based in Murrieta, ranks first of 223 pilots in the Skyderby distance challenge for 2026 and sixth in the time challenge. This title confirms her place at the front of her event.
