Luke Rogers retained his wingsuit performance flying world title at the 6th FAI World Wingsuit Flying Championships in Lake Elsinore, California. The Australian posted 292.1 points, leading the 36-strong field and anchoring a dominant national team performance.

A 1.5-point margin through the air

Rogers's combined total of 292.1 points squeezed past Alexey Galda, who held second on 290.6. The 1.5-point difference across speed, distance and time disciplines decided the championship.

Teammate Jason Dodunski completed the podium in third with 285.8 points. Chris Geiler followed in fourth on 281.4, a full 10.7 points back from the champion. The result made it two Australians in the top three.

Round-two speed swing

Across his three speed runs, he posted 292.5, 284.4 and 301.1 km/h for a 99.5 percent speed component.

Distance scores kept the pressure on. Rogers registered marks of 4500, 5052 and 4975 metres, while his time scores of 104.4, 106.0 and 107.5 seconds yielded a 97.3 percent component.

Chief judge Steve Hubbard oversaw the InTime-scored results, with the competition window having opened on 8 October.
