Alexey Galda set a new FAI world record in the Longest Time discipline with 112.2 seconds on 9 October 2026. The American achieved the mark at the 6th FAI World Wingsuit Flying Championships in Lake Elsinore, California. He finished runner-up in the overall Wingsuit Performance standings, trailing champion Luke Rogers by a narrow margin.
A record from the very first round
Galda's opening time round measured 112.2 seconds, the figure that became the record. His first-round distance of 4,573 metres scored only 90.7 percent, yet his time mark earned a full 100 percent in that same round. He followed with times of 107.1 and 107.5 seconds in the remaining two time rounds, completing a clean sweep of maximum scores across all three.
The 5,173 metres he posted in round two was the single highest distance figure any athlete in the 36-competitor field recorded all week. His top speed round reached 286.2 km/h, with his other two speed rounds clocking 277.7 and 268.3 km/h.
Rogers holds on by 1.5 points
Luke Rogers defended his world title with a total of 292.1 points to Galda's 290.6. Rogers was 7.8 seconds quicker in the first time round with 104.4 seconds and edged ahead on speed with a top round of 301.1 km/h.
Five years of stretching the clock
Galda already held the previous Longest Time mark of 112.0 seconds, set during his winning run at the 2025 FAI World Cup. In 2021 he recorded an FAI-approved wingsuit glide of 101.9 seconds at the USPA Nationals in Eloy, Arizona, where he also won the Wingsuit Performance category. He was born in Russia and competes for the United States.
The championships ran alongside the 22nd FAI World Canopy Formation Championships at Skydive Elsinore. Scores were provided by InTime Scoring, with Steve Hubbard as chief judge. No direct quote from Galda about the record was made available to media.
The final competition day, 14 October, doubled as the International Day of Air Sports celebration for both world championships.
