Four perfect scores after a slow start
Fiona Jansen, Miguel Moncada Urquijo and Thomas Kluzniak opened with a 272, the team's lowest round of the week. France 1 had begun with the maximum 300 and held the lead.
The French lead narrowed to a single point after round two, 573 to 572, in the seven-round contest at Skydive Elsinore. Then the scores turned.
Sweden took the lead in round three, 872 to 835, and never gave it back.
Nine teams, one historic result
France slipped to a 262 in that third round and a 278 in the sixth. Sweden's margin grew to 37 after round five, 59 after round six, and a final 67 points over Boris Paturet, Nicolas Minvielle and Thomas Dupache, who totalled 1996.
The American trio of Alexander Knaub, Clark Robinson and Joseph Lohmuller took bronze with 1882. Canada finished fourth in the nine-team field with 1853 points.
A moment for Swedish air sport
The three Swedes were judged on the quality of their flying, their choreography and the work of the camera flyer across compulsory and free routines. Their seven competition jumps, captured on video and shared by the federation, carried them to a result the national body called one of the biggest international successes for Swedish parachute and flying sport in recent years.
The team trains at the Bodyflight wind tunnel in Bromma, Sweden. The championships ran from October 8 to 14 at Skydive Elsinore in Lake Elsinore, California, held jointly with the 22nd FAI World Canopy Formation Championships, with scores provided by InTime Scoring.
