Mizuho Hasegawa won the women's vert world title at the 2026 World Skate Games in Asunción on 3 October, posting 259.66 points to claim Japan's first gold of the championships and lead a national one-two finish.

Japan's night at the Palacio de López

The vert final opened the first medal day of the fifth World Skate Games, with the Palacio de López providing a stately backdrop. Hasegawa's winning mark left clear daylight to the rest of the field. Compatriot Shuka Kawai secured silver with 231.66 points, while Brazil's Helena Laurino finished third on 195.17.

Two disciplines, one dominant summer

The Asunción crown caps a remarkable run across both park and vert for the teenager. In June she won park gold at the World Skateboarding Tour World Cup in Rome, then repeated the feat on home soil at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September.
