Yumeka Oda won the women's Street Skateboarding World Championship at the 2026 World Skate Games in Asunción, Paraguay. The Japanese skater scored 170.94 points, her second street world title after 2023.
A 7.5-point deficit erased on the first best trick
Oda entered the final second after the run section, trailing Australia's Chloe Covell. Covell carried a 7.5-point cushion into the best-trick section, and the title looked set to swing her way. The venue sat on the perimeter of Asunción's international airport, where jet take-offs were visible from the stands.
Oda answered on her first attempt. She landed a Kickflip Front Feeble worth 89.7, and the score pushed her into the lead. From there she held the advantage to the finish, closing on 170.94 to Covell's 167.97.
After Oda's trick, Covell needed a best trick worth 82 or more to keep the title. Her Noseblunt on the handrail was clean, but it finished just under three points short of the mark. Covell responded again, yet could not regain the lead.
Japan sweeps the street podium
The women's field held only seven entrants after Cora Wilton withdrew through illness. Coco Yoshizawa of Japan landed all three of her best tricks, including a gap to Front Blunt, and took bronze with 159.26. Japan took four of the six available street podium positions.
The win marked Oda's second world crown, after her first in December 2023, the first world championship held in Japan. Her record also carries an X Games Street Best Trick gold at Ventura in 2024 and a Street silver in Salt Lake City in 2025.
Earlier she had placed fourth in the semifinal with 150.56 points. The championship opened the Road to Los Angeles 2028 ranking race, which World Skate calls the first big points allocation of the new Olympic cycle.
